The uniformed deputies that work patrol make up the backbone of the Tate County Sheriff's Office. These deputies are most often the first officers on the scene of incidents. They are responsible for patrolling the county roads, taking calls for service, court security and many other duties. Each deputy is certified by the Mississippi Board of Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Training after completing 400 hours of state mandated training. The Tate County Sheriff's Office also conducts in-service training with each deputy.
